Paris Hilton
Paris Hilton can do it all. The highly publicized celebutante has appeared in television, written a book, recorded a CD and worked as a model.
Hilton was born in New York City to Richard and Kathy Hilton. The famous last name needs no explanation. Her father’s father is Barron Hilton, son of Conrad Hilton, the Hilton Hotel founder. A philanthropist, in 2007 Barron Hilton pledged 97% of his estate to the Conrad H. Hilton Foundation, a charitable foundation founded by his father.
On her mother’s side she is the niece of two child stars of the 70s, Kim Richards and Kyle Richards. During Hilton’s youth, she lived in several exclusive homes that include the a suite in the Waldorf Astoria Hotel the famous Hamptons of Long Island. She attended her first year of high school at Marywood-Palm Valley School in Rancho Mirage, California but by senior year was attending Canterbury School in New Milford, Connecticut where she was a member of the hockey team.
Hilton began modeling as a child and by the time she was 19 she was signed on with T. Management, Donald Trump’s modeling agency. The lithe blonde beauty has also worked with Ford Models in New York, Models 1 Agency in London, Nous Model Management in Los Angeles and Premiere Model Management in London. Hilton’s famous face has been seen in advertising campaigns such as GUESS, Tommy Hilfiger, Christian Dior and Marciano.
In 2001 Hilton became known as a socialite and New York’s leading ‘It’ girl. Her fame began to move beyond New York. She appeared in numerous magazines including the April 2004 issue of Maxim.
Hilton began to move into movies and made numerous cameo appearances in movies such as the 2001 movie Zoolander, Wonderland in 2003 and The Cat in The Hat in 2003. Her cameo appearances led to her landing supporting roles in the feature films Nine Lives, Raising Helen and House of Wax.
Her role in House of Wax led to her earning a nomination for “Choice Breakout Performance - Female” at the Teen Choice Awards in 2005.Hilton landed her first lead roles in the 2006 movie National Lampoon’s Pledge This! and Bottoms Up. Most recently Hilton can be seen in the 2008 release, The Hottie and The Nottie.
Hilton’s reality Series, The Simple Life, co-starring friend Nicole Richie, made her a household name when it began in December 2003. Fox ran the series for three seasons. In October 2008 Hilton’s new reality series, Paris Hilton’s My New BFF, will air for ten episodes on MTV.
Hilton’s singing career began in 2004 with her founding Heiress Records, a sub-label of Warner Brothers Records. That same year she released her self titled debut album, Paris. That CD reached number six on the Billboard 200 for a week. According to Allmusic Hilton’s CD was “more fun than anything released by Britney Spears or Jessica Simpson and a lot fresher, too.”
That same year Hilton co-wrote an autobiographical book titled “Confessions of An Heiress: A Tongue-in-Chic Peek Behind the Pose”.
